The more I work on 'real' games (and it's only been a little over a month so far, I admit), the more it makes me want to get back to working on my own stuff as well. Don't get me wrong, I love the work I'm doing. But like it or not, we all know The Industry is a slow moving monolith that doesn't offer immense scope for creativity.

I've Beta'd many games and I've found many similiarities in MMORPGs that seem to have been working. It is important to realize that perspective is a big part in creating a game for everyone with the intent on not offering a finale.

Player perspective cannot be determined. At all. Believe it or not, every MMORPG will acquire every type of player. You cannot presume how someone is going to look at the game they're playing because in all honesty, you don't know. You can only apply a "One Size Fits Most" perspective and do your best to fine tune the bugs and cliffhangers.

For example, many players like the grind and many others do not. Giving players alternate ways to level is an amazing way to extend the life of any MMO. EQ2, Lineage 2, FFXI, and many many more neglected this aspect and in the later years of their game lives (where applicable) they're struggling for new content.

Instead of coming up with things you'd like, with random good ideas.. Look at the great ideas that have been tested already in other great games. You're not stealing, you're learning. If live events worked, then that's a good idea. If quest-driven leveling as well as grinding are all part of a character's life in FlyFF2, and that works, then do it! But, Not all aspects are alike.

Seriously, I just realize that this game really did imitate some GOOD MMORPGs to a fault. The perspective, guild, pet, battle, interface, and most of the basic concepts and gameplay are an amalgam of WOW(World of Warcraft), FWJ(Fantasy Westward Journey) and original FlyFF. I don't think it's a good mix and well executed from a gameplay standpoint.

Just frustrated...
